[ SOLVED ] Cannot detect WiFi after installation of Lite 4.0 on an Acer Aspire 3830T

Finally, I solved the problem by installing lite 3.8 64-bit. I guess the kernel for Lite 4.0 isn't compatible with the hardware of Acer Aspire 3830T.

Seems the WiFi is disabled, have you tried your WiFi switch?
Maybe its just in software also when you click on the network icon at the bottom right in the taskbar.

Looks like a flakey, unreliable chipset in Linux. You could opt for a $10 linux compat. USB from ebay or read through the following:

Have you tried connecting with the wired connection than do a check for drivers... ? This usually works for me.

Thank you for your quick reply. My problem seems more complicated.

I came across the two threads in your reply yesterday. Already changed the keyboard layout from Generic US-105 to Acer laptop. Now only Fn + F3 can toggle wlan and bluetooth; before F2 and F4 could also toggle wlan and bluetooth. There doesn't seem any wireless switch in the Bios setting. I also tried disabling bluetooth.

Wireless is still not working. I am still puzzled.

Check your BIOS for wifi function switches mapped to a certain key to make sure it's not a keyboard recognition issue. Some go off and don't come back on when you reboot because they are not mapped.

I installed Lite 4.0 today on an Acer Aspire TimeLine 3830T. Everything seemed fine except WiFi couldn't be detected. Did not find any helpful answers from internet either. Therefore I am hoping this forum may help me solve the issue. Your help is greatly appreciated.
