Give this a go here - http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2181558 has solved the issue for other people with Asus and the Atheros AR9485 chip.

I have a very recent Asus computer with an Atheros AR9485 wifi adapter. I have tested it with Lite and other Ubuntu variants. None of them recognize this adapter, yet it has been supported by Debian and the other distributions for years. Strangely, it does work in Manjero (I don't want to go there.....)

Does anybody know what to do in order to get wifi working?

(Thanks in advance.....)
