You've added a PPA at some stage for Java by the looks that is broken. Remove the PPA and try again, should be fine then. Then install the new kernel again.

i installed latest kernel but after reboot am still running the 4.2.0 kernel

Even after a reboot?
Also, what is the output of:

Code: [Select]
dpkg --list | grep linux-image

Not even after a reboot.
I get this output:
Code: [Select]
W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/sun-java-community-team/sun-java6/ubuntu/dists/trusty/main/binary-amd64/Packages  404  Not Found

E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

The outcome of dpkg --list | grep linux-image after reboot is
Code: [Select]

I wanted to help and try your experimental kernel 3.15.0, so I uninstalled my upgraded 4.12 kernel and restored to original 3.13.0-66-generic.  I then proceeded to copy your code into terminal and was unsuccessful?  However, XFCE has already been upgraded to 4.12 if that matters.  See terminal results below and thanks in advance!  Tom

kiqox9250@kiqox9250-Insp-660s:~$ sudo apt-get install linux-headers-linuxlite-3.15.0 linux-image-linuxlite-3.15.0 -y

Thanks for your help guys.

@frank392 - Command not found.
@Wirezfree - Unable to locate package linux-headers-4.2.0-linuxlite.

I opened a new thread here https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/installing-software/virtualbox-with-new-kernel/ to avoid corrupting this one.

From my notes:
"Whenever you change Host Kernel, do:
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r)
sudo apt-get remove virtualbox-dkms
sudo apt-get install virtualbox-dkms

This forces Vbox kernel modules to re-compile, apparently?

I have yet to change the kernel on my main PC with VBox.
But googling shows this to be a common suggestion after kernel updates.

@Jerry

I noticed when upgrading to 4.2 that Virtualbox doesn't work due to "No suitable module for running kernel found". Would this problem exist with all the non-standard LL kernels? Or just the very new ones?

4.3 Linux Lite Kernel is now available for 32 & 64bit machines.

Open a terminal and do:

Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install linux-headers-linuxlite-4.3.0 linux-image-linuxlite-4.3.0 -y
Ignore any errors in the terminal.
IMPORTANT: Only install this kernel if you need it or if you are adept at getting out of trouble from a TTY.

Look forward to your feedback. Thank you.
