It is seems to skip the linuxlite repo like it is not there.

Current linuxlite repo:
deb http://repo.linuxliteos.com/linuxlite/ beryl main

Fixed the issue; I removed 2 default repo's I did not need through synaptic last week and I think I had to add the repo back which in turn added a source repo over binary..... but you did point me in the right direction... I restore the default source.list and off to the races...

4.1 Linux Lite Kernel is now available for 32 & 64bit machines.
Linux Lite Kernels are now compiled using the clang compiler - http://clang.llvm.org/

Thanks to the new 24 thread workstation, I'm now able to compile, build, package and release the Linux Kernel within a few hours of the mainline release.

Open a terminal and do:

Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install linux-headers-linuxlite-4.1.0 linux-image-linuxlite-4.1.0 -y
Ignore any errors in the terminal.

Look forward to your feedback. Thank you.

hi, im trying to install last driver omega form amd and the log show this error .

"NOTE: If your system has logged the missing packages required for installation, install them in the order as per the log file to resolve package-dependency issues.
fglrx installation requires that the system has kernel headers.  /lib/modules/4.0.0-linuxlite/build/include/linux/version.h cannot be found on this system.
Install kernel headers using the command apt-get install linux-headers-4.0.0-linuxlite."

the headers are already installed   , this the question ?
my graphic card is r9 290  whit a amd 8150 processor   i will try whit kernel generic .....

pd: im on linux lite 2.4 64 bits  , kernel 4.0 ....

Thanks for that. I was going to ask that very question, so your answer is both helpful and intelligent in its anticipation  ;)

Hello!

Welcome to Linux Lite, and welcome to the forums.

Your need to reboot from recovery mode most likely means that the 4.0 Linux Lite kernel probably won't work for you. I have machines here that will not run the 3.19.0 kernel, which I believe is the highest Linux Lite kernel currently available. I had to revert back to a kernel where everything worked.

You will probably have to 'fall back' to the previous kernel. Boot from recovery mode, and the misbehaving kernel can then be uninstalled in Synaptic Package Manager (Install/Remove Software)...

And I just install them in case they speed up features and supply security fixes.
Some kernels boot faster and use less ram than others.

But I am not shy when it comes to testing kernels. I always keep a good backup.

    • Linux Lite OS

  • CPU: Intel Core i9-10850K CPU @ 3.60GHz

  • MEMORY: 32Gb

  • VIDEO CARD: nVidia GeForce GTX 1650

  • Kernel: 5.x

By the way, what does this mean? This should NOT be tested on your everyday machine unless you know how to remove the kernel from a tty.

It means you shouldn't use these kernels unless you know how to get out of a tight spot if the sh#t hits the fan. This is why we put that warning in. Unless you need a specific kernel for a specific reason, the stock kernel that ships with LL should be fine for most peoples needs. New kernels are only useful if you have brand new hardware or are using for example a new file system like btrfs, or you're waiting on a specific patch etc etc. Cheers.
