Title: Newbie to Linux Lite OS
Post by: ve9cbc on April 01, 2017, 10:01:08 AM
I just installed this OS last night, and am having the chance to get acquainted with it today. All updated without a hitch! Plus it even has the BluRay capability! That's very impressive!

I come from a Fedora background. I finally had to switch from them, due to the age of my computer; plus I was sick and tired of having Gnome bog down all the time. I guess I was due for a change wasn't I?  ;)

I also used to be a beta tester for Windows 7. I saw quite a lot in that beta test, and having lost my $2500 64 bit board due to hackers during that beta test, I switched to GNU/Linux - and I haven't looked back since. Yes it's been that long since using any Microsoft OS.

For those of you just coming from a Microsoft OS you're in for a wonderful experience with this OS. It is a bit of a learning curve; but if you're willing to put in the time and effort to learn Linux Lite, you will be rewarded for your efforts. Plus the community here (and the GNU/Linux community as a whole) are very nice people. We really want to help you when you need it. We were in the same position as you when we first started to use GNU/Linux - so you have nothing to fear.
