Title: Hi From NZ
Post by: darry19662015 on July 19, 2020, 03:24:20 AM
Hi to all,

Just trying out Linux Lite on this old cantankerous HP Pavillion dv6000 which doesn't play well with a lot of distros.

So far Linux Lite is running very smoothly on it and as for the documentation and the guides to everything like driver support and zram installation etc is amazing the documentation is really impressive and easy to understand.  Thank you to all who help develop this system.

I am using 3.8 32bit and it runs real sweet thank you.

Regards

Darren :)

Hi there, I'm also running LL 3.8, had to go back to it after my video card died and I was back on the old default-graphics. I have an old Gateway Athlon, circa 2009, and I need older systems for it. I figured I would just use it until I ran across a good deal on a new video cards, but it works so well I am in no rush, and will probably use it until next April. It was my first Linux Lite, and it is a great little system, no doubt. It's a shame that hardware changes often force us to upgrade "old" software, which in many ways is superior to the new.

First, hello and welcome! :)

Second...

The CPU supports well enough Linux Lite 5.0. I'm running it on the machines in the signature, so I know it from a direct experience.
As for the graphics, I use mostly Intel GPUs. I only had once a Radeon and it worked under Linux, but this was ages ago... (before 2008...).
I hope you'l give it a shot with LL 5.0. I am very pleased!
Nothing went wrong so far, including in an UEFI/GPT (GUID) hardware environnement, so LL is a great choice!

All the best! :)

Looking for very lighweight distro with easy-to-use GUI. Use case: Word processing and spreadsheet tasks and possibly for use with media such as movie watching. CDs/DVDs should work as well. Manjaro 18.10 is too slow.
