Hey Colin! I hope you continued learning Python since then!
It would be nice to know how your studies went. Did you get into other programming languages as well?
If you are still on Python, you might want to check out the online courses at https://classpert.com/python-programming

Happy coding!

Hi justme2
I like using the command line so i think i'll stick with that for now at least.
I may sometime in the future consider the IDLE but not now.
Thanks for the help and advice.

Hello bitsnpcs
My condition is the direct result of having spent a lifetime working underground.
My doctor has never mentioned CBD (cannabinoids)? to me. My problems all relate
to the spine. That's as far as i want to go.

Have always enjoyed making my own web pages after having learnt HTML and CSS.
I then went onto HTML5 and CSS3 but i'm still light years away from being an expert lol

I have dabbled with JavaScript and PHP but lost interest in the end to be honest.
So only the other day i logged into the forum and went straight to the Coding section
under development and saw your post: Beginning with Python. I scrolled down and then
Saved the links put up by anj and Hans.

I am a little put off as it were to start paying £10, or £20 on books just yet.

Like i said in my previous post let's see how far i go!

Hello colin,

the doctor can prescribe CBD on NHS prescription, it is as a spray for in to the mouth, they do sell a milder none prescription CBD as an oil for the mouth in Holland and Barrett. I have not tried the CBD spray or Oil.

You can go as far as you wish learning Python :)
Just learn and practice at the frequency where it is happy for you.

Colin ...............  python3, most courses indicate where there are differences. Google do a video python course which is based on python2 http://www.openculture.com/2016/12/learn-python-a-free-online-course-from-google.html

However python3 is already installed with LL3.8 on my system,  type python3 in a terminal and the python3 interpreter should start. If not it can be installed from synaptic package manager. I recomment using IDLE as the development IDE but just use terminal for a start. Ask if further info is required.

2) Medion P4 32bit LL3.8 1GB ram, quite fast & stable
3) eeePC 901 32bit LL3.8 1GB ram, fast & stable
4) eeePC 701 32bit LL3.8 1GB ram, slower & stable but small and light enough to travel with me to New Zealand when visiting family in Blenheim.

Hi justme2
I am running Linux Lite 3.8 and when i opened a terminal and typed Python (all lower case)
I was informed that Python 2.7.12 was available by default. Could you or someone else tell
me how i might get Python 3?

Thanks for the suggestions and advice. It really is appreciated.

Colin, no need to buy books, lots of online resources, some interactive like this one: http://www.learnpython.org/
Google 'learn python' (I guess you've already done that anyway) brings up lots of choices at no cost.
I suggest you ignore OOP programming initially, but that is just my opinion.

Hiya bitsnpcs
Thanks for the suggestion regarding mushrooms lol.
I usually have a portion of mushrooms delivered with my chinese take away each weekend.
But, sadly, there's nothing, not even mushrooms that can do anything for my bones, lol.

By the way i've started to learn Python. Wonder how far i'll get lol.
