After a reboot i logged in and got a black screen with just my mouse on it.
This happend after installing clamav, i'm unsure if that did it but that was the only thing i did as far as i remember.
But before i had this problem i disabled light locker, you can read about it in the forum:

Well wouldn't you know, just after posting things were working LL2.6 died on me.  :'(

So had to do a full reinstall, and now i'm tracing my steps, step by step, to figure out what i messed up and why it wouldn't start my desktop any more.

It's the most intense computer install in ages. :P

But right now its running again, fingers crossed.

Curious what died? Did screen go blank? (Seeing this frequently - typically light locker is the culprit).. Linux Lite is a solid/stable OS...
That and do as torreydale suggests...

UPDATE: Looks like we posted simultaneously ;)...
For the black screen - may want to check light locker....

Sorry for the not being clear, I have done it myself, i was messing with groups i tried to add a group myself, being a noob i didn't realise i had to also state the groups i was in again so i wouldn't delete them.

Anyway it was me who messed up the groups, LL isn't to blame.

How ever i did get a black screen today, with a mouspointer but nothing more than that.
This problem i've seen on this forum twice, so i'm not alone, i did my best to solve it, and i did find a solution to that.
Now LL works again, and i love it to peaces again.  :D

I was just thinking yesterday how boring (in a good way) Linux Lite is.  No catastrophes.  It's my distro of choice and the one I install for family and friends because I know afterwards I'll hear from them about as much as the Maytag repair man will hear from me.

Having said that, experience tells me something else must be going on here.  You either have a bad installation image, faulty hardware, or you're doing something interesting.  Linux Lite doesn't mess up user groups without some help.  And in all my installs, the operating system doesn't just stop working, without my help, to the point that a fresh install is the only option.

Check the md5sum of your installation image.  Also if you get a chance, share a system report with us on the forum.  Give some details on what you mean when you said it died on you.  Would it not boot up at all, or did you just have a black screen?  If the md5sum checks out and you get LL 2.6 working again, right after installing updates, go into Systemback and create a restore point.

Hello Linux lite friends.

When my windows pc died i decided to give this Linux stuff a try again. I had tried to install mandrake linux about a decade ago, on a laptop i had back then. It was horrible, video wasn't supported and i had to change the config file and even then most of the hardware wasn't supported. I decided linux wasn't for me.

But now i thought lets see how things have changed, and wow i must say things work a lot better i mean really a lot. It almost all just works on first install.

I needed a lightweight distro and so Linux Lite was my first choice. I tried ubuntu, Debian, mint etc. But Linux Lite is my first and biggest love it seems.
I really like the tools to install extra software and config samba. I love how clean the installation is. If i need more stuff i just add it myself.

And i even had to reinstall it, because it messed up my groups and couldn't do sudo anymore.  :-\
Well i guest that is part of learning how to do stuff.

TL;DR;
Linux lite team, thanks for all the hard work.
