Hello thoughtinstinct,
have you tried - Menu>System>Lite Tweaks
tick the box named "package cache" and click begin.
If this does not solve it try -
Hold down Ctrl and Alt keys and press t key, to open your terminal.
Copy/paste or type in to your terminal
sudo apt-get clean
type in your password when requested and then press enter.
-
Thanks bitsnpcs, i did sudo apt-get clean and had to try several times but now it says my system is up to date. Have a nice weekend.
-
You are Welcome @thoughtinstinct :)
Enjoy your weekend too.
-
If Skype related, also try:
wget https://repo.skype.com/data/SKYPE-GPG-KEY
sudo apt-key add SKYPE-GPG-KEY
-
Thanks for the reply Jerry. It looks like its indeed skype related, as i had skype installed and i dont know what happened but skype was removed from my laptop after last update as far i know. Tried your solution without much luck and have removed the skype ppa and im waiting to see if evertyhing is alright now. But the question is how and why did skype get removed? Anyway to know that? Thanks in advance.
-
Hello thoughtinstinct,
Skype was removed as the clean removes partially downloaded packages, as per the error info, which says it is Skype that was partially downloaded.
If you reinstall Skype then using @Jerry solution.
-
Make sure you use Lite Software if you decide to install Skype again, no PPA's.

@Jerry will it be needed to purge the removed PPA in this instance before using Lite Software install to prevent issues in future ?If so I am unsure of the command to suggest for this.
-
Yes, remove PPA first.

Thank You @Jerry :)

Thanks bitsnpcs
I had to think really hard if skype was installed before or not so i won't be reinstalling it since i don't use it that often it seems haha. Anyway i was just worried it might be something else causing the file size differences.
Btw i enjoy your music selections a lot, hope you have some playlist you can share. All the best in your quest to master linux, im inspired to try myself.
Thanks Jerry
Will remember that if i ever need skype again.
