synaptic fails

trying to start synaptic produces the following text and will not run also apt-get will not execute.

  E: Clearsigned file '/var/lib/apt/lists/archive.canonical.com_ubuntu_dists_focal_InRelease' contains unsigned lines.
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.help if possible please   
  I was a little bit hasty in asking for help. Booted into kernel ...105  instead of kernel...107. Then ran update-initramfs and update-grub. Rebooted into kernel ...107 and all seems to work now.john
