Title: Plank broken screen
Post by: killed on February 21, 2019, 03:39:21 AM
Dear friends,

Yesterday, I had been installed and completed Linux Lite, also Plank for it. But when I config position is left and option unhide dock, the screen appeared a line vertical show all on app. Please see the photo: https://imgur.com/a/RRoFgPf (https://imgur.com/a/RRoFgPf)

How can I fix it, please let me know. Thank you very much!

I too have the same problem; however, mine is horizontal.  The only way to get rid of it is by not using it and removing it from your software. I hope someone has a better solution than mine.

I believe it's a compositor issue.

Go to - Settings Manager - Window Manager Tweaks - Compositor - Uncheck 'Show shadows under dock windows' .

See link below which illustrates the solution:-

Hope this helps.

I really don't see any practical difference between a dock and a good ol' Xfce panel with launchers.  I admit Cairo dock is pretty, but why add more and more stuffs that all do the same thing?  I think one app for one task is slimmer and faster.  Keep Linux Lite Lite!

 8)  Mart: Thanks for the Hyper-link on fixing a shadow on OS.
If it happens again I will know what to look for.

I'm glad it helped. I had the same 'shadow' problem when using Plank dock in the past.

But I had to stop using Plank due to some screen burn issues around the icons.

Reverted back to a Xfce panel with launchers, as Artim mentioned.

Xfce panel is not as much fun as Plank dock but it does the job all the same.  :)
