There is a difference between installing updates to computer and refreshing the list of available software from repositories in Synaptic.  What you're doing is installing updates, which should only be done through LL's dedicated program for that.  To simply make sure that the list of software available for installing through Synaptic is up-to-date all you need to do is hit the "Reload" button in Synaptic (in upper left corner of window).

Both methods ensure you are up to date, our method has more checks in place.

Please use the provided method. Menu, Favorites, Install Updates. Synaptic should be used only for downloading extra software.

Hi Jerry

I went to Main menu => Install/Remove Software and after entering my password i was in Synaptic so i clicked on Reload => Mark All Upgrades => Apply

It was when the process was complete that i got the error message.

I was trying to update Synaptic and i got the following error message:

E:grub-pc:subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2

Could someone help me out here and explain how i might resolve the error please.
