Hello!

One could spend YEARS playing with Conky. There are many thousands of .conkyrc files posted online. You can do so much with it, it's like a programming language of its own.

After playing with Conky a little myself,  I realized why no one responded to my request to post their .conkyrc files. They wouldn't look the same on any two different PCs.

I tried a sample one, but the text was all crunched together, and I didn't want to spend a lifetime trying to figure out how to fix it. Next time I get REALLY, REALLY bored, and I want my home screen to look like the instrument panel of a jet fighter (yes, they have conkys that do that), I might try Conky again...

A gun in your hand is worth more than a whole police force on the phone.

Either using command line "sudo apt-get install conky" or using the graphical package manager.

Conky also has quite a few extras you may want to play with.  I suggest you google the web for conky configurations.
