I'm more than happy to include community suggested software, if of course, it is in wide demand, as obviously Hulu is.

Many thanks Jerry. Now we can all watch Hulu TV shows and I only have one O/S, Linux Lite. Donation to Linux Lite has been successfully made. Thanks again.

Ok, I've added this to our repo (32bit and 64bit), and it will be in 2.8 by default :)

Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install libhal1-flash
Reboot.

Hmmm...let me sleep on it. I'm a little weary of adding PPA's and tend to play it safe and only use the big names like LibreOffice, VLC, Gimp etc. Projects that aren't likely to disappear or go unmaintained mid LTS cycle :) I can add the deb to our repos. I'll look into it.

I have tried installing the hulu Ubuntu app, it keeps crashing after about 20 seconds.
The app NO LONGER WORKS.
The solution below WORKING
Success !

Working instructions-

1. install  libhal1-flash  as torreydale suggested.

Code: [Select]
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:flexiondotorg/hal-flash
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install libhal1-flash
2. REBOOT

3. Open Firefox and go to Hulu. It works !

I watched 2 full episodes of my fav tv show, no issues at all.

@Jerry----Would this package be able to be added to the ISO ? That way hulu works "out of the box" for new windoze converts.

Thank you both. Very grateful you took the time to respond to my problem. I am sure one of these suggestions will work.
I will let you know that the problem is solved.

tomt,

I ran into this situation last night.  AVJ's method looks like a winner if you want a dedicated Hulu desktop client.  But if you want to view Hulu via your browser, you'll need libhal1-flash.  I haven't tried it yet myself, but you can get instructions on installing it by clicking here.

I have not tried this, but you may find it useful.

Would anyone know how to install hal-lib for playing Hulu movies? So far only Mint has it installed and can be found in their
synoptic package. Would rather have just one O/S instead of two. If you open Hulu on Lite, say on Firefox, you will find the needed Hal but cannot install from there. Chromium or Google does not support Hulu and refers you to Firefox which as I indicated works on Mint and also on Epiphany because hal-lib is already installed. Thanks for any help.
