  • CPU: Depends on what machine I'm running.

  • MEMORY: 4Gb

  • VIDEO CARD: Depends on what machine I'm running.
Check that all these packages are installed via Install/Remove Software.

The names and versions may differ slightly, some search options 'gstreamer ugly' 'gstreamer bad' 'gstreamer base'

Try Brasero.

I never had any luck with Brasero.  I did a search for gstreamer and it appears to me that gstreamer bad is missing in the list.  Here is a very short video of me doing the search.

Hi Jerry,

Thanks for the help and sorry couldn't reply earlier. Problem not solved yet though as i have encountered another problem/bug, im getting
Quote
Gstreamer did not like this file (detection timed out)

Seems like it's a known bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfburn/+bug/1577919. Anything i can do about it now or is it best to try other software?

I am bringing this back to life because in LL 3.0 I still get "Gstreamer did not like this file (detection timed out)" if I try to burn MP3 files
I converted them to .wav which it seemed to accept only for the burn fail...

Hello,

I tried last night to burn an mp3 to audio cd using Xfburn, it gave errors and would not begin this task, based upon the errors stating something was missing from gstreamer I had a look in Synaptic and tried various gstreamer plugins for Xfburn, eventually I found the correct ones so I was able to complete the task.
As there are several gstreamer files, I thought I would make this thread in case anyone else wanted to do this task, so it saves you having to do a trial and error testings.

In Synaptic these are the things you need to install -

gstreamer0.10-plugins-good (0.10.31-3+nmu1ubuntu5)
gstreamer0.10-x (0.10.36-1.1ubuntu2)

When you select the first item it will automatically tick the second item.
The errors now cease and Xfburn will accept your mp3's to burn as audio cds.
