We have the H265 files in the LL repo for Series 2.x.Code: [Select]sudo apt-get install vlc-plugin-libde265 libde265They WILL play HEVC files, if they don't, you have a separate issue. If you don't have a powerful , modern computer, the video files simply won't play. They require a lot of horsepower. If you're on 2.8, chances are these files are already installed. Stay clear of the PPA you posted.HEVC test files of varying bitrates here - http://jell.yfish.us/
sudo apt-get install vlc-plugin-libde265 libde265
Hi Monkeyman,Linux Lite 3.0 ships with version 2.2.2 Weathewax.
Hello, Monkeyman!Quote from: Monkeyman on July 05, 2016, 10:27:24 PMThanks, everyone. I guess I'll live with the current version and toss the movies that won't play. I'm not smart enough to fix Linux if I break it.If you NEED VLC 2.2.2 for some reason, that's a different matter altogether. Upgrading to it most likely won't cause any new issues for you. One just have to be careful to get too carried away with PPAs, that's all. Worst comes to worst, you can remove the newest version, remove the PPA, reinstall the repository version, and life goes on.73 DE N4RPSRob
