You should confirm that your router has a firewall (User Guide) first before disabling the one in LL. Most do, but please don't take this for granted.

After reading through other forum posts and seeing all the trouble others are or were having with the built-in firewall, I decided to skip spending time on it.
I read on another site someone had stated what I said is true about running through a router. So I've decided to just go without the built-in firewall.
Thanks for your help!

Router probably does have a firewall and this "software" firewall is in addition.. I like to leave enabled, but you've tested and ruled out the firewall was blocking.

Now all you have to do is create a filter/rule to allow the application and/or ports.

I know there is a tab in the firewall to allow applications or ports but not in front of my LL box (at work) but essentially create an Allow rule for the KDE application. :)

Once you have a rule enable and test.. You're almost there :)

Something to get you started http://www.howtogeek.com/115116/how-to-configure-ubuntus-built-in-firewall/
May need to extend into IPTables but between the GUI and the command to add the application (above link) you should be able to create an allow rule.

Some info right from the forums  :P

Well, I got it to work after disabling the firewall... but is this safe? I was once told that if you are running through a router to your modem, that that is a built in firewall for the network. Is this true?
Right now, I don't feel comfortable leaving my firewall open. What can I do?

It seems to install just fine and it comes up like it's working. Everything goes fine until I try to connect my phone to my pc.
It cannot find my device. The device list is empty and says No Devices Found.

I tried connecting using my device as well and it cannot find the pc. So, same thing in reverse.

What happens when you install it?

When I do a web search on Xfce and KDE connect, people seem to be running it.  And from the following website, there doesn't appear to be any restrictions running it on an Xfce desktop environment:  https://community.kde.org/KDEConnect.

Hi, this is my first post here... I just installed this distro a few days ago and am loving it, so far. But I have a few concerns which I will address in various posts.

I'm just curious since I found KDEConnect in the synaptic software manager... is there ANY way to get it to work in Linux Lite even though this is not a KDE distro?

It would be so great if this would work! I usually run KDE OS's and already I miss this feature. But the Linux Lite distro out of MANY is one that is the least problematic
running on my system, even though my system isn't THAT old.

Any ideas on how to get KDEConnect to run on this distro... again, would be great!
