Title: Grub-Customzer
Post by: Atrail on July 06, 2016, 05:14:16 PM
I have grub-customizer installed on a different HD/with Win7&Mint 18,although i can see LL in grub on the other drive I can not boot into LL! I've been changing HD boot in the bios to get onto this drive. I guess what I'm asking does anyone know how I can fix this! I don't want to keep changing this in the bios.

Hello!

I don't have different versions of Linux across different drives, but I *DO* run more than one Linux distro per drive on most of my 'puters. GRUB may reside in the MBR of /sda, but I have to use GRUB Customizer to assign different pictures to each one so I can tell which is which, as I have GRUB .conf files on each partition.

When I update a kernel on any one partition, the GRUB .conf file on THAT partition, and its graphic, become the default one, so I, too, would like to know how to fix this when it happens, or keep it from happening at all...

Hi,
I do not use multi boot setups, so I might be wrong. But isn't Jerry quite often pointing out that Linux Lite needs to be the master in such a setup? Meaning, as soon as you change anything, specifically in other installations, you need to run update-grub from within LL again?
Am sure someone with experience will chirp in and confirm or correct me :)

Rescatux live dvd works very well for legacy stuff, and rEFInd rescue disk works best for UEFI stuff.
