  • VIDEO CARD: nVidia GeForce GTX 1650

If I don’t use Lite Sources, will I still get updates for Lite Software, Lite Welcome, Lite Tweaks etc through the normal Ubuntu repositories/mirrors?

Yes, you will still get all updates.

Thanks bitsnpcs for your prompt reply. Sorry, I should have been clearer when I referred to Ubuntu repositories/mirrors - of course I actually meant Menu>favorites>Install Updates as well.

But my original question still stands. Perhaps someone running 3.6 could help answer it, or perhaps Jerry or one of his team could help since the original 3.6 Release Announcement assumed that the Lite Sources info was self-explanatory in all aspects. Unfortunately, from a noob's point of view it wasn't.

That said...

...Respect to Jerry and team for their wonderful OS and all their hard work.

Hello Mart,

updates for Linux Lite OS and tools are not available through Ubuntu repositories, these are for Ubuntu updates, including the upstream base of Linux Lite.

Updates for Linux Lite and Ubuntu upstream base, plus any additional softwares you have installed are all done by using -
Menu>favorites>Install Updates
Which will connect to LL repos, Ubuntu repos, PPA and other installs you have made, to gather the updates.

Lite Sources is to choose which server location/mirror you wish to download your updates from.
If Lite Sources is not used to select a server, I am not sure if it will just use a default server as I use an older version of Linux Lite without Lite Sources.

In Release Announcement 3.6 it says -

“NOTE: Lite Sources does not include Ubuntu repositories or software. This is only for Linux Lite created applications eg. Lite Software, Lite Welcome, Lite Tweaks etc.”

So, can someone please answer this simple question for me (forgive my noobness!) :-

If I don’t use Lite Sources, will I still get updates for Lite Software, Lite Welcome, Lite Tweaks etc through the normal Ubuntu repositories/mirrors?

Thanks.
