Yes, that fixed it; I now have a WiFi icon showing in the panel.
Marvelous work, many thanks to you Sir!
I am just beginning to find that this operating system has some nice little accessible facilities like the "Lite Tweaks", and I have only just started with it.
Jim.
stevef:
Ok, let's see if we can get the Network icon back.
This should restore it back to default settings.
Menu -> Settings
scroll down the list and click on 'Lite Tweaks'
on the window that opens
scroll down and select the 'Taskbar Restore' job
click 'begin'
Jim0000:
This looks promising:

Edit:
Hey Steve, it is working!
Many thanks for your patient assistance; I would never have got it going without it.
Jim.
stevef:
Maybe just a reboot did something. We can sort out the network icon but first can you ensure your system is in range of some wifi networks and then run two commands and post back.
--- Code: ---sudo lshw -C network
--- End code ---
To ensure the wifi adapter is on the system
--- Code: ---sudo nmcli dev wifi list
--- End code ---
To list any networks it can see

In this post the USB device is now showing and has a driver when compared with your earlier post number 15 where it wasn't listed.........
Did you change anything between posts ?............
--- End quote ---
No. At least, not that I am aware of.
--- Quote ---Can you now see wireless networks detected ?
Steve.............
--- End quote ---
No. And also, I cannot see the network connections icon in the bottom panel. It was there before showing Ethernet connection.
