How did you initially install Clementine? What is the file format you are trying to play that gives that error message?

installed through the Lite Software and the files I have installed are all .wma, played them before for a long time.

Try installing the following package:

32bit - https://launchpad.net/~mc3man/+archive/ubuntu/gstffmpeg-keep/+files/gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg_0.10.13-5ubuntu1~wily_i386.deb
64bit - https://launchpad.net/~mc3man/+archive/ubuntu/gstffmpeg-keep/+files/gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg_0.10.13-5ubuntu1~wily_amd64.deb

I would also suggest converting .wma to .ogg at some point, then you will never need extra packages :)

So I take it that fixed it? If so, please mark the thread as solved.
