Title: clamav will you be adding updated version 98.7 to software repositories
Post by: tomt on May 05, 2015, 10:07:41 PM
In the software repository there is the old version of clamav 98.6 which I have downloaded and it works fine. Problem is, there is a new and updated version that is not added to all the Linux distros and so we have to wait till it gets added to software manager. Will that be done in Lite? Seems I cannot download and install unless I manually rebuild it and I am not that experienced nor knowledgeable
to be able to do that. Comodo does not work for me in Lite. Cannot fix the file drive filter even after all the on line suggestions to try which means I cannot scan individual files. Thanks to anyone who might have some answers.

Thank you Jerry. It has been added as of this morning (May 6th) to the software repositories and I installed it without any problems. Very quick response to my question. I like Linux Lite and got rid of Windows altogether and convinced my son to do the same. It is the only distro I use. The new version is on the Clamav download site.

Jerry, when I opened up the "Install/Remove software link in menu and
typed clamav 98.7, it was there and replaced the 98.6 that was the only version available yesterday afternoon. The new clamav version can be found by going on their website for download. It is now the prominent version for downloading. So software manager is up to date. Thanks again.

Hi tomt,

Great to hear you like LL and even promote it to others :)

May I ask why you're not just posting the link?
I can imagine that Jerry is not bored while running this awesome project in his spare time, so any time saving helps :)

All the best

As with all of us, there is always room for improvement :)

Great you didn't take it personally but reflected on it and are open for change.

Keep smiling :)

Hello!

Linux Lite-inspired software notwithstanding, doesn't Ubuntu update the repositories? Updates take some time to be included in the repositories - sometimes, for a reason.

Personally, I have found instances where it's NOT best to run the latest version of something. Me-TV, used with TV cards, comes to mind...
