Title: How do install Shotwell?
Post by: SICKOFLINUX on May 03, 2017, 05:39:22 AM
Because I am sick & tired of trying to get new photo's into a workable system now I have installed Linux Lite?

I do not understand that file manager gubbins or gimp or see any use in image viewer & am sick & tired of having to learn new stuff  every time I 'upgrade' Linux.This is all just so bloody depressing.....I have shotwell on a notebook with Lubuntu & no problems at all it just could'nt be easier...... (have tried to download shotwell just now & it dos'nt even seem an option)  >:(

Hi SickofLinux,
The easiest way is to open your terminal and type:
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get updateThen enter your password

Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install shotwellAnswer Y (yes) to install.

All done  ;)

@SICKOFLINUX,

Try this:

Menu, System, Install/Remove Software.  Search for "shotwell."  Mark it for installation and click on Apply.  As a reference, visit https://www.linuxliteos.com/manual/ and view the Software / Installing Software section.

Thanks for that Mike,it went well & I have installed shotwell successfully (thumb up smilley if there were one).Only problem shutting down the terminal..I vaguely remembered having to type in exit or something & not sure I did it successfully,anyway I now have shotwell up & running & even managed to transfer a photo to my desktop prior to adding to a forum reply that I wanted to illustrate.(that thumb up symbol again).

Tried that Install/remove software option & it ended up in a damn frustrating experience.Anyway it is done now thanks.

@SICKOFLINUX,

Why would you need to use Install/Remove Software for Shotwell if you already got it installed using the terminal commands?

Shotwell has now been added to Lite Software. We needed a Photo Manager, and now we have one :)
