Title: Avidemux 2.6.8
Post by: Colin23erk on November 21, 2014, 08:22:52 AM
I have just installed Avidemux 2.5 (https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/index.php?topic=1045.msg6226#msg6226).4 which is the current version in the repository .Whilst looking in tutorials I read that it had been updated to deal with a problem I have . Searching the Web there is a newer version that  has been out for over 12 months

News, Tutorials, Howtos for Ubuntu LinuxAvidemux 2.6.5 Released: Install / Upgrade in Ubuntu 13.04, 12.04 September 1, 2013

Does anyone know why the version in the repository has not been upgraded ?

rmcellig (https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=270) had the following Problem and got no help --- I have been trying to install the latest Avidemux 2.6.4 with no success. I tried compiling it from their website. I have also tried installing from ppa when I searched google. Doesn't work (https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=270)

Not familiar with this, A quick Google seems to imply it's straight forward:

Avidemux Install:
http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2014/04/install-the-latest-avidemux-2-6-8-in-ubuntu-14-04-lts/ (http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2014/04/install-the-latest-avidemux-2-6-8-in-ubuntu-14-04-lts/)

BUT The following seems to imply on Ubuntu 14.04, which is what LL2 is based on,
That you need to change a Config/List file.
I don't know enough on what the implications are then for LL2.?

Avidemux on Ubuntu 14.04, Variation.?

I'd throw a

Code: [Select]
inxi -r
in this thread before adding the avidemux ppa myself. Just for info.

Thanks
 Used the
http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2014/04/install-the-latest-avidemux-2-6-8-in-ubuntu-14-04-lts/

Link which has worked OK except for an Error on installation. I totally removed it and  to get rid of the glitch and it installed OK .

Other than a Picture size problem probably because of my small net-book screen size it is working OK to remove unwanted parts ,
I cannot resize the Window  to view the the Menu Bar and the Video controls together . At present I use "Alt" +"Left Click" + "Touchpad" to move the window to the part I need to set a clip and execute it . Anyone Know how to resize a window below Minimum or an easier way to get all the Window in view .

Hello!

The issue you ran into makes a good case to go elsewhere besides the repositories (i.e. PPA) to get the newest updates.

I guess the repositories don't want to have to deal with the whole 'bleeding edge' issue, where something works until it's updated, then requires more action to 'fix' the updates...
