Hi all,
I have just installed " Kdepasswd " from the " Lite Software Centre " it seems to have installed O.K. but I cant find it anywhere on the P.C. I have used " Run Program " and nothing happens. If I type a search for it in " Synaptic Package Manager " It shows as installed !
I am running O.S. 1.0.8 Lite.

Maybe get into Main Menu & try finding it in there & enable it .

Hi altman
Not sure what you mean, when you say get into "Min Menu "
I have gone through all menu items, but it is not there.
Thanks
-
Sorry mate , fixed it , typo .
I meant Main Menu . Gee , went too fast I guess .
Also , Is it based on KDE ! If so , you ll get lots of KDE Dependencies here . ( just saying )
My bet is that you re used to this app right !
-
Have a look in "/usr/share/applications" for it, it might be set not to show in xfce.

Hi Altman
Sorry I couldn,t work that one out much to my embarrassment.
Never used the app before, I only installed it because I need to change my password
Thanks

Do you mean that you don t finf the Main Menu ! If so , you click on Whisker , then Settings , then go to Main Menu , then try to get to kdepasswd .
I think Linux Lite comes with a password manager , if not , I would install KeePassX . Some might give you a hand here , I don t use one but will give it a look later on .
No worries mate , we .ve all been there

Hi oxo42,
Maybe I'm misinterpreting your comment..??
I only installed it because I need to change my password
Are you talking about your login/user password..??
If yes,
You don't need kdepasswd to change your password
Somebody may want to comment.?
But you can do that under:
Menu > System > User Manager
There is an option to change user Passwords
Make sure you select the correct user,
and remember what you change it to..!!

Hi Wirezfree
Yes I need to change my Log in /User Password / I do not have USER MANAGER in my Menu. My O.S. is 1.0.8 lite so it may differ from what you are using.
Thanks
-
Ah , forgot that you had 1.0.8 installed , no issues beside passd in it !
-
Hi oxo42,
Sorry, I missed the LL 1.0.8.
I started with 2.0, now 2.2, can't remember when User Manager came along.
A quick Google shows the following, although I would wait for confirmation from a more experienced user
Open a terminal or use ctrl-alt-t
then:
sudo passwd <username>
like:
sudo passwd oxo42
It will prompt you for your "current" password
Then ask for "new" password then ask to confirm it.

Hi
Thank you to all who have contributed.
I have gone with Wirezfree suggestion, and have now sucessfully changed my User/Login Password using the Terminal.
I no longer need "Kdepasswd" so I have uninstalled it.
Once again many thanks to you all.

Glad that you fixed your issue !

Hi oxo42,
Glad it worked, now I know also. :)
