the Workspace switcher was not visible but via the + I could install it

Right click on the panel and then click panel preferences. Click the Items tab and make sure Workspace switcher is there. If not add it.

Sorry,

Linux 4.0
I mean the workspace at the bottom of the toolbar, normally there are four but these are gone.

are worksheets something you created in LibreOffice ?
Do you mean Linux Lite 4.0 or Linux Lite 4.2 ?
