Still GM45 is not new, nice to see it works!
You're sure right!
The MB is 2008 so... 12 years already, and... still counting! :)
Two workarounds though...
BIOS flashed with the latest (2012) and replaced the HDD with a SSD Kingston A400, 480 GB. Works great!!
The only painful thing is when it comes to video... Rendering ratio is 4.16:1...
But! I'm still alive! :D
I guess I'lll find a way to tweak it a little, and get to some 2.2 - 2.5 rendering ratio. I have to use HandBrake to convert the raw footage to .m4v. Seems to work better in OpenShot than the .mp4.
I am still testing... ;)
Thanks for the reply! :)
Have a great day! :D

I also had some trouble with my Intel GM45 Express, for the very same reason. After uninstalling the Intel drivers, everything went OK.
Lol, for a moment there I though I saw Intel 945 and was going to ask how an old computer like that handle 5.0. ;)

@ThePotato ,

I don't think this is a processor issue as mentioned earlier in this thread.  From my experience, your hardware specs seem like a good candidate for Linux Lite.

I'm not sure if you have a UEFI or Legacy BIOS computer, but since you are new, you should look at the Help Manual's Installation Guide.  It is at https://linuxliteos.com/manual/index.html.  It is very thorough with screenshots.  I also ask you to consider unchecking both options at the Updates and Other Software window.  You can install those things by following the guidance of the Welcome Screen post installation of the operating system.

Hi!
Installing Linux on AMD A 8 + Radeon R5 seems to be a tricky thing.
Do a Google search with the exact specs of the CPU.
As far as I remember, you need to pass some parameters to kernel at boot time, in order to force the VESA mode, untill the install finishes. Than you can see what steps are required next.
As far as I've seen on other forums, Radeon works with Linux and there is kernel support for this CPU. I assume that there is a conflict between the kernel drivers and the standard supplied drivers in the installation kit.
I also had some trouble with my Intel GM45 Express, for the very same reason. After uninstalling the Intel drivers, everything went OK.
Good luck!
I hope that helped at least for the beginning.
Best regards! :)
