[SOLVED] Unable to boot or install any linux distro

Some newer distros aren t pretty nice to old hardware , seen some in the forum last week or more . Too bad .

Thanks altman..just loaded berry1.03 live from usb and it booted right up.gosh i wish i could read japanese. at least i know there is a distro that will work. ill look for another distro.  i will try it out. but i would still like to get help with the previous issue. ill check back later.

I would maybe try it , but these are old ubuntu mate . Guess these aren t supported anymore .

I would wait some hours as the dev s has like 12 hour difference from us in North America if not more hours or when someone in the know will give you a hand .

You might save lots of headaches here .

well if i cant run linux lite on it will one of the old distros that are suggested in your previous comments work even if its not maintained any more and is that safe if not i guess i could just put windows back on it.

That s one thing that s ok , so it might / must be a graphic issue .

Looks like this model has issues with linux .

md5 is ok. I'm using the same usb stick i used to install it on the other 2 computers

Did you happen to check the md5 sum mate ! Sometimes it s that , it doesn t add up .

No issues on install itself while installing !

I have linux lite running perfectly on several laptops and desktops except for this one HP6715b with ati radeon x1250 graphics card. have done a lot of searching and it seems this laptop will only run with the 2.6.34 kernel. i have tried  to boot the 2.2 live cd and after the blue default screen boot i get a flashing black screen with a feather and loader at the bottom and it just flashes back and forth very quickly after about an hour i can see the loader bar is complete if i look fast enough between flashes but it never goes to the start up screen. it did once but after installing it reverted back to the problem above . if i use the nomodeset it just checks hardware for hours and then i get a blinking cursor  at the top left of a black screen.  I have since tried to install several different distros with no success. I am currently tring to use some old distros with the 2.6.34 kernel to see if that works. I would really like to use linux lite. and the new 2.4 beta is working well on the other laptop i put it on yesterday.
