Ran in to a similar problem different OS on a USB flash drive had to download bakenaEtcher to load the OS on to the USB flash drive . It is the only way that i could get an OS to work on any flash drive. Etcher is a free download extract it on to your desktop to format the OS on the  USB flash drive. I fourn this out thru trial and error, a little enervation too.Hope this helps.

Solved... Duh!  32 bit processor.  Downloaded 3.8 and all is good.  Thank you Jerry!

Hi Jerry!

It is a Toshiba NB100 netbook, Intel Atom CPU N270, 1 gig ram, Intel 945 chipset video, currently running Windows XP.

I looked up the N270 processor and looks like it is 32 bit.  Hmmm... 64 bit OS, 32 bit processor... I may have answered my own question.

We don't know anything about your hardware. Please update your Forum Profile to reflect what hardware you are running. Then we have a place to start with Support. Thanks.

New to Linux, got the bootable USB, starts up and shows welcome screen (4.4 64 bit).  Shows Automatic boot in 10 seconds, counts down to 1, then flashes a message on the screen too fast to read but I can make out something about Invalid Argument, and then returns to Automatic boot in 10 seconds.   Trying safe mode, I can see casper vmlinuz failed, invalid argument.  Same message for Check Install media and Install Now.  What am I doing wrong?
