Hello Searchernow,

here is a tutorial for doing these changes in terminal after install -

Thanks for your suggestions, I'll certainly take a look there.  Another great attraction of LL, the calm and helpful community!

Hello,

if you have the book, The Linux Command Line, in Part 1 of the book, Learning the Command Line, Chapter 9 Permissions, will be useful additional infos.

If you do not have the book it also has a free pdf version available at the authors website - http://linuxcommand.org/tlcl.php

Oh dear - I should have thought about it before I posted ::)

Anyway, I checked by live booting from the usb iso and it was perfect.

Interestingly it might be too perfect - this is an iso copy of (32bit LL)  installation on friend X's computer, and I was thinking I'd save a lot of work by making the iso and using it for installing on another computer, if I'm asked.

But the admin username and password are friend X's, and I don't see how to change those, on another install. Hmm!

Maybe I'll get the chance to set a new admin during a new install, while keep all the other settings?

I may not actually have a problem, but want to ask:

I made a copy of a current installation as per "Creating a Live ISO of your installation" (in the manual).
I then copied this to a new usb as per "Writing the Linux Lite ISO to USB in Linux and OSX".
I got the expected terminal confirmation, 1.8Gb copied.

Using GParted to look at the usb I get "Unallocated" and "invalid partition table - recursive partition on /dev/sdb"

I'm assuming that's ok, and if the need arises I can boot from that usb drive!?
