Hi I am new to linux and having problems installing linux lite 3.8 on an older hp laptop. I installed from a USB and upon reboot directed to a screen that reads
error: attempt to read or write outside of disk `hd0'.
Entering rescue mode...
grub rescue>
This is the second time i have attempted install. I chose the erase disk option.

Hello folks I checked in on the post for a few days and recieved no responses, unable to come up with a whole lot of better solutions I have decided to install Bodhi Linux 5.0 and see what happens. From what I gathered Bodhi is good for an old setup as this HP. Really I'm just given things a whorl. I still have a 3.8 linux lite iso on this hard drive and may need it again. Thanks for any help.

During installation, where are you choosing to install Grub to? What is the partition set up?

Hi Jerry it is very great to here from you, this was just a point and click install folllowing the prompts of installer. The only real thing I can think I did is chose the Erase disk option. Other than that I did nothing else custom or special. The Bohdi install seemed to go ok though I would like to try the 3.8 LL again. Thank you Jerry and sorry for the lack of detail. Thank you.
