Title: Power Management question on ver 4.2
Post by: smhardesty on January 25, 2019, 12:42:10 PM

WOW! Long time, no post! I can't believe how long it has been since I was on the forum and posted anything. I have checked in once in a while to read over a few threads, but I've been swamped with other issues.

So, with egg on my face, here is my question. I have a buddy that finally decided to give Lite a whirl. He downloaded and installed ver 4.2 and I just recently upgraded my install from ver 3.4 to ver 3.8 so I can't really compare my laptop to his desktop, version to version. I have absolutely ZERO problems which is probably at least one of the reasons I haven't been around on the forum. I've got ver 3.8 now on both my laptop and my wife's and both have been trucking along merrily for a year and a half with ZERO glitches.

Anyway, on with the question. My buddy had issues with Power Management on his install. He couldn't get his PC to sleep. By the way, he installed on a desktop PC, then manually added the Power Manager Plugin to the panel. He uses a Logitech wireless mouse that he wanted to keep tabs on then he also wanted to put his monitor to sleep since he leaves his PCs running 24/7. I have tried talking him through the issue via emails and texts. I have also searched the forum for similar problems. I can find no reference to anything similar so thought I'd just ask.

Has anybody experienced a problem with Power Management not wanting to put a monitor to sleep in ver 4.x, or for that matter, with any version? If so, how did you resolve the issue?

And hello Jerry and gang! 8)

hi @smhardesty Tell you friend to go to session and start up and to uncheck the box for "screen locker". He must logout and login back for it to take effect. I use to have this problem too and this solved it.

Hope this helps! :)

I just checked my own on this laptop and Screen Locker is unchecked. I don't recall if I did this in the past or if it was that way by default. Either way, I have taken a screenshot of mine and also a screenshot of your suggestion and I will be emailing those to my buddy in just a few minutes.

Once again, help is as near as the friendly forum. Thanks much!

Also, I went ahead and installed ver 4.2 on my own desktop yesterday. I will be checking it to see if Screen Locker is check marked!

This is probably not the right place to bring this up, but I noticed in your profile that you're still running ver 3.8, Moltke. I am on both laptops too. Can I ask what your plans are on upgrading? After I got my buddy up and running with 4.2 and also installed it on my desktop, my buddy asked me when I was going to upgrade. I told him I had no plans on upgrading until support for ver 3.x was long gone. My wife and I ran ver 3.4 on our laptops from June of 2017 until I just upgraded us both to 3.8 a few days ago. Neither one of us has had a single problem. So, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Right?

If you'd care to share your plans I'd be interested. If you'd prefer, feel free to contact me directly.
