It's hidden for a reason, please do not mess with this. It will be visible when it's ready. Thank you.

-Left click menu
-in the search bar type 'alacarte' (it has an 'e' on the end) just type alacarte, don't include the '
-When you see 'run alacarte' at the top, left click 'run alacarte'
-When the GUI window opens, left click on the 'setting' tab
-Scroll down the list that appears until you see 'Lite Upgrade'
-Click on the little box in front of 'Lite Upgrade' and it will put a check mark in the box
-On the bottom right, click the 'close' box
That's it, you're done. Now when you go to (menu < All) you'll see that 'Lite Upgrade' is now in the list. If you were to click that now you'd get a little message box that says "The next system upgrade will be available on 1st November 2016."

Everyone will notice that on installing Linux Lite 3.0 the menu item 'Lite Upgrade' (menu < All) is not visible. Jerry did this for a reason, as explained above. For those of you who DO want this feature (remember you DO want it), left click 'menu' & in the search box at the bottom type 'alacarte' (without the '). When 'run alacarte' shows at the top - left click it to run it. This is very, very easy to use GUI. On the left click each category and then on the right tick the box for what you WANT to show in menu. Untick the box for what you DO NOT want to show in the menu. These items don't go away, they just won't show in your menu. If you ever want them to show again, just do the reverse. Type alacarte, run it & put the little ticks back. 'Lite Upgrade' is in the 'settings' section. When you've finished ticking & unticking, just click 'close'. You don't have to install 'alacarte', it's already in Linux Lite. A very useful GUI.

Move to Installing Linux Lite.

There has been a misunderstanding with a number of users in regard to upgrade within a series. Despite it's harmless approach, some people still think it's a form of intrusion, and unsolicited. As such, we'll go back to the previous way of upgrading, which will be by choice (see the last slide of 3.2 Beta for info).

Jerry,

If you're not going to move folks through the series via Install Updates, I hope you'll consider kernel security patches as part of the Install Updates script.  Whenever I know of a security patch for the kernel, I feel like I have to send out a group email to the folks I've helped get Linux Lite installed.  I get the sense some of them are not running "sudo apt-get install linux-generic" whenever I email that to them, but they do run the Install Updates script every so often.
Want to thank me?  Click my [Thank] link.
