  • CPU: AMD E2//Atom X5//AMD Phenom II X2

  • MEMORY: 4Gb

  • VIDEO CARD: AMD Mullin Radeon R2//Intel//AMD/ATI RS880

  • Kernel: 5.x

Couple things..
1st if this is a UEFI bios - disable (set to legacy) and turn off secureboot
May not hurt to confirm you downloaded a complete file by checking the hash..

Then assuming the 500gb hard drive is a secondary drive is this an external USB? If so ok to leave unmounted.
The internal "primary partition" that has been DBAN'd is it formatted? It will need to be - ext4 should suffice - this will be "/"
Are you planning on swap (assuming so) you'll want to set up as well.

Both formatting ("/" &swap) can be done in LiveDVD or during install.

Boot to LiveDVD allow Live environment to boot to desktop and click the install Linux Lite (Using something else - or - use gparted to set up disks)

If choosing to do during install, choose the "Something Else" option this uses gparted within the install
When setting up partition in gparted choose the appropriate file system: "linux-swap" for swap and "ext4" there should be a drop down or selector to set as "/"

Install should go as normal I wouldn't select any extras, encryption or updates - confirm all installs.
Once installed you should be prompted to remove disk and reboot.. (LEAVE UEFI turned off - you will have to leave in this state)

Reboot and see if LL loads.

My laptop PC was running Windows 7. It gave me a lot of issues with long time delays and crashes. I chose to reformat the drive with DBAN to make sure everything in the HD was zeroed out. I am not trying to run a dual boot system, just Linux.

Thanks for all the replys,
Roy

Have you check the things mentioned by @firenice03 ?

If you are unsure how to check the BIOS to see if Legacy boot mode is selected, and also if fast boot is turned off, post in the thread the make/model of the computer for help on how to access BIOS.

Also as asked how many hard drives are inside the computer and which one you are trying to install to.

Also asked if you are dual booting, it means if you have Windows installed on the hard drive and are wanting to also add Linux to the same hard drive and keep windows, as this is different method of set up, I have not tried to dual boot myself.

Is the 500gb where "C" (primary partition) resides? is the the only disk in the PC..
If it is a secondary drive so far ok..

Does/did the primary disk/partition have a Windows OS (trying to dual boot or overwrite w/ LL)?  Win10?
- Check if fast start up is disabled
https://in.answers.acer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/37059/~/windows-10%3A-enable-or-disable-fast-startup

- Fast start up hibernates the disk keeping it from being accessed in LL..

Are you wanting to dual boot?
Is this a UEFI bios set to legacy? You'll have to set back to UEFI mode to access Windows..

Was there a Windows or other OS installation on the hard drive before trying to install Linux Lite?
I sometime had troubles when a "hidden/locked" recovery partition was present.

Cheers!

I loaded Linux Lite 3.6 64 Bit by following the online instructions (running the 'Install Linux Lite' on my desktop from the DVD, finally getting past the 'No bootable device- -insert boot disk and press any key' error.
My 500 GB hard drive was unmounted. After getting the message to reboot, my system froze to a black screen. Had to power off/on to start Linux from DVD again. I mounted my 500GB hard drive to /media/disk1, rebooted again and got the error 'No OS Found. Insert 0S setup disk, then press any Key.'
The screen went black, I put the DVD back into the CD drive, waited 2 minutes, then Linux came up without the Install Linux Lite icon. I did a shutdown, turned on my netbook, selected Boot from first hard disk and got message: Selected 'Boot from first local disk' and got the error 'Boot failed: press key to retry'. I booted from the DVD again, chose the 'Enter Linux Lite' option, shutdown my session, removed the DVD from the CD drive. Booted up from without the DVD and got the error  'No OS Found. Insert 0S setup disk, then press any Key.' Linux will only launch from the DVD. Please let me know if you want me to send any reports to look at this further. How do I get the Linux OS loaded on my hard drive?
