Bit of a delay... the PC developed a fault.. It would not switch off.
Sorted, I think, it looks like the power switch/ribbon cable had a intermittent connection.

Anyway,
2.8 now allows me to boot, I do get vertical white bars after the BIOS splash,
Then after a second or so I get the Desktop,
opening/closing apps gives some sparkles, so I will now try a 4.X kernel.

Do have an issue with WiFi,
But I've seen issues with RTL devices before, so know where to start.

Will post back...

Intel contribute directly to kernel dev, so driver support gets better each release, ie. you can use a later kernel (4.x) to get better performance.

LL 2.8 has Linux kernel 3.19.  May consider using that for your live media.

Hi,

Trying to install on a Intel Braswell CPU(N3150)
Set BIOS to all "Legacy".
Booted Live, played a little all seemed O.K
Then installed without any issues, then re-booted.
Immediately after the BIOS splash the start up text is broken/torn, completely un-readable, wait no desktop appears.
Never get to read if any messages pop-up during boot.

So I re-booted Live, all O.K, and then did an inxi:
Code: [Select]

In Display settings in a "Live Boot" it's indicating 1920X1080 but it shows 0.0Hz like in inxi above, not sure if this is because it's a Live Boot.?

Doing some Googling it appears Braswell was added from kernel 3.19, so that could be part of the issue.??
(( Although it looks fine in Live Boot with 3.13 ))

Can I install more recent kernel from a live boot.??
If yes, how to do it, I have found some things via Google... But they look very hairy  :o

Any help much appreciated... Thanks
