Great to hear. Once everything is set up to your liking, don't forget to set a restore point with Systemback.

Many thanks for all your help with this issue but as we were unable to resolve and in light of your observations relating to Trash/Rubbish Bin I decided to reinstall LL3.2 from scratch and thankfully both issues have no been resolved and everything is now working hunky dory.

Well, it's a mystery to me at this stage. We'll see if anyone else can chime in with suggestions.

The only Programs that I have installed that did not come pre installed or that were not in the "lite software" menu are as follows:-
Gthumb
Font Manager
Font Sampler
Handbrake
Devede
BAOBAB
Canon Printer Driver for MG5650
No additional Icons or Themes have been installed

The correct software is installed, the file manager is correct and there are no known recent bug reports on this.
Have you installed any additional software since the first install, or removed any software, including any icons and themes?

This is the default File Manager, the only thing I have altered is (in view) to change the "view as icons to View as compact list (my preffered view. I have always used all versions of LL in this view as I hate icon view

That doesn't look like the Thunar file manager that LL provides by default. What file manager is that? If it is Thunar, it looks vastly different from what it's supposed to.

It doesn't matter what combination of file types I include, i.e. all one type or any combination of files, in the selection the result is always the same

Can you please give the list of all the files you're trying to zip, including their extensions. Then include a screenshot when it errors.

Hi Jerry
Made the changes as suggested but one would not change - see revised screenshots however, tried creating zip file as per my 1st post and got exactly the same warning message I'm afraid.

Set yours to match mine. Then try again with creating archives.

You have all the necessary packages.
Click on the Menu, type mime, then open the MIME Type Editor. type in zip in the Filter box and screenshot the result to here. Do the same for the word tar.
