I just installed Linux Lite on an old Toshiba Tecra laptop my dad got from his work. It will be used in my moms office mainly for organizing appointments so it will probably only run Google Calendar on FireFox (no need for any Win only Software). During the live boot and installation the fan was running on full speed. I thought it was due to the fan control not working properly in live mode. Once installed the fans did not slow down. After googling a bit I found
this post on the Linux Mint forums. Following the instructions fan speed went to normal. Other than that the system runs nice and smooth.
