I have downloaded the ISO a couple times and cannot boot to it with either my Windows machine or my iMac. I will try it again with the Windows machine to make sure.

Make sure SecureBoot is off...
And more than likely, youll need to turn off UEFI, or enable legacy mode.. This is in your BIOS.

If a dual boot with Win10, may want to make sure fastboot is also off, this is in Windows..

Hi @joejohnston3  Are you sure the LL ISO is not corrupted? There's a couple of things you might try to make sure it isn't the case, 1, install virtualbox and try booting LL in a VM. And 2, try booting your USB stick containing LL in another pc. If one of those attemps is succesfull then it means your LL iso isn't corrupted, otherwise you should download a new one.

Hope this helps! :)

Yes, the strange part is that LL is one of the only ISO's that does not make a bootable USB, along with SparkyLinux. I have gotten Linux Mint and Ubuntu, Manjaro, etc. to all work but not LL. :(

I am hoping to find a solution but starting to get concerned there may not be a solution. Apparently it works for others, just not my options.

@joejohnston3  Does your PC support USB boot? Some older machines need the aid of 'Plop', which I have always given up on for speed reasons.
1) Lenovo T520 i5 LL3.8 8GB ram, fast & stable
2) Medion P4 32bit LL3.8 1GB ram, quite fast & stable
3) eeePC 901 32bit LL3.8 1GB ram, fast & stable
4) eeePC 701 32bit LL3.8 1GB ram, slower & stable but small and light enough to travel with me to New Zealand when visiting family in Blenheim.

Then you'll need to go into your BIOS and make sure that any USB devices are set to boot first.

Well, here is my update;

I have tried with my Windows machine and numerous USB creators, along with Etcher. I have switched ports and flash drives and I cannot get it to be a bootable USB. The USB burns successfully but will not boot like a normal Linux distro. It is disappointing as I would love to get this working but I have tried with Linux and Windows and cannot get it to burn correctly. I am not sure there is anything more to do. Is there a chance the Sourceforge ISO is not compatible as a bootable ISO?

Thank you, Jerry! I will try another USB port as well as flash drive and use Etcher. I will let you know.

You've used a multitude of software, so logically it has to be a hardware issue. Try different USB ports.

Hello Jerry, and thank you for the reply. I have tried Etcher as well with no success as I know you recommended it on the Wiki. That is why I am stumped and not sure what to do next.

Hello All,

For some reason, I cannot get a bootable USB of the Linux Lite ISO. I have tried every commonly known GUI versions of USB creators, i.e. Yumi, Unetbootin, etc. and even the DD terminal command and still cannot get it to boot in order to use it as Live version or to install. I can easily use the same ISO for burning a CD but not a USB and am hoping someone here has had a similar issue and found a fix. CD is just way to slow so I want to get a USB version if at all possible. I would appreciate any assistance you can provide and Happy Thanksgiving to all!!
