Also many Sandisk sticks will tell you file corruption is occurring if you have linux files on them when you insert them into a windows computer. Ignore it. They will also save file remnants to a recycle bin on the stick, and to an indexing folder named volume information if you delete anything from them while running in windows. Delete the files from such sticks in linux and there will be no traces. If you want to erase and reformat use gparted in linux or a live iso of redo-backup disk utility. I always use cheap generic sticks, like PNY etc. except for occasional video demonstrations.

Are they plugged in when you boot? Sometimes boot will skip volumes and you will not see an icon. This even occasionally happens from a g-parted live iso disk. If they are not showing up, unplug and replug. If you have more than one stick plugged in at boot you may have to add a timeout to boot sequence 3sec or so. I have noticed this happen with booting in both Linux Lite and Porteus. The speed with which both systems load to ram and cpu's above 3gig is the cause. Look in system information and see if they are listed there. If they are there and not present as volumes icons on the desktop then configure the volume settings in Thunar. Some sticks, like Toshiba video lecture will stay unmounted after they are unmounted even if you unplug and replug them. They only allow mounting after a reboot. Some sticks may require authentication to appear, depending on what situation you previously used them in. Try opening Thunar as administrator and see if they appear. Open the lite control center and configure file manager to automatically open a window upon stick plugin.

Any update on this nomko?
Yes and no. This issue not only appears on LL, but also with other distro's. Even with the USB disc you send me Jerry. I'll wait for LL 3.0 to come out and do a fresh/clean/virgin install and check if i still have this issue.

Does another system read them? They could be going bad.. I had some that Windows was able to see but file corruption was occuring... Or perhaps, try gparted, does it reconize the disks, maybe try re-partitioning/formating.. You will wipe disk doing so... some Bootable disks dont read correctly.. Thou LL will usually mount... But then a disk with no partition probably not...

Just some thoughts...

What happens if you plug them in, and in a terminal type:
Code: [Select]
lsusbCan you see them.?
Read my post more carefully ;)

Sorry I was not clear, did it have a descriptor.? like my SanDisk, Transcend or such like.
I had 2 old sticks that got recognised USB wise, but did not have ID & Descriptor, and did not show in Thunar or Disks

Is Volume Management on and configured by you in Thunar>preferences>advanced?
Please explain what my volume management/control has to do with my USB sticks???

Quote
Thunar Volume Manager

While Thunar can support automatic mounting and unmounting of removable media, the Thunar Volume Manager allows extended functionality, such as automatically running commands or automatically opening a Thunar window for mounted media.

Hi,

I've noticed this for some time now, Linux Lite doesn't show any of my 3 USB sticks in Thunar. Does anyone has a clue what's going on here? LSUSB does detect the sticks.
