After removing and reinserting, it no longer recognizes it. It's becoming sort of amusing. :-)

I would make sure that USB port and USB stick both are working fine first; try another USB stick, another port, I mean, if you haven't already. If  neither the USB port nor the USB stick is the problem, I would try LL in a Live USB and see if the problem occurs there too and depending on whether it happens or not... well, that's all I get for now. :)

I have tried all my other usb sticks and they work fine. I have tried this particular one with all my ports and it doesn't show up unless I reboot, and then it will only show up as long as I don't copy something to it and then remove and reinsert it. (IOW, if I don't use it for anything except importing data from outside the LL machine.) If it would at least show up (even without being mounted) I could maybe do something.

Seems like the obvious conclusion is that there's something odd about this flash drive.

After formatting this thing with every possible choice and getting no results, I burned a linux live distro to it using Rufus on the Windows machine. THAT one is recognizable by my Linux Lite system. I find this interesting, knowing as little about these things as I do.

I have a HP 16 gig USB drive which works fine on my Windows machine, even on my DVD player, and also on my old Mac. It is formatted FAT 32. Linux Lite refuses to admit it even exists. Plug it in and nothing; it doesn't show up with any command I can find, and I've been searching for the last half hour online. Running lsblk, for example gives nothing but the other devices I have. Ditto for fdisk -l.

Anybody have any idea what might be going on with this? The Disks program can't see it, Gparted can't see it, but these other OS systems work fine with it.
