Does your mp3 player have an SDCard? If yes, then try to plug in the SDCard directly.

Haha, sorry! You might want to try accessing the device from a media player. I read somewhere that the Clementine app can be used to transfer music to your Zen device just fine. You can find that right in Lite Software as "Music Player."

Just tried a restart and has made no difference. Here is the result of the lsusb:-

You may need a restart. Can you also tell us the make and model no. Also please paste the output of lsusb in the terminal.

Thanks for that. It looks simple and I'll certainly try it.

First, though, I've got to get the system to recognise my usb-connected player. Doesn't show up in Drives.
