O.K,

Kali Linux is a very different distro to Linux Lite.

I have just tested 32/64bit Linux Lite Live USB stick boots from USB3 on my HP Laptop.

What I did read when Googling,
It can also be related to the USB3 controller, different types and the kernel version.

So I can only guess Kali Linux contains more recent kernel/drivers.??

In the meantime...i tried Kali Linux live...and it's working on USB 3 too...

UHMMM...i'm inclined to think that it is Ubunu...related....

I think part of the problem is the USB3 hardware..
Under windows you normally have USB3 drivers which are installed.

I'm not sure with Linux how this works if you make a Live Boot.??
I have some PC's with USB3, but never noticed this issue.

In some BIOS's there are settings for a USB3/USB2 compatability mode,

right...Wirezfree..

there are lot of posts for this error and it seems that mainly is affecting UBUNTU based distros...but non of them seems to find a solution for
 the problem.

Of course i can still use the USB 2 but found strange that nobody still fix it...

THX :-)

O.K,

I made a quick Google for this error, it seems there are lot of posts on:

> Lot of reports of booting issues from USB3
> Bios settings, some have legacy compatibility option for USB3 ports
> Bios setting for disk, set to AHCI not IDE

Are you trying to install Linux Lite to this PC or just "test" it.??
either way you can still use the USB2 socket.

Hi David,

What I'm trying to understand is "which" of your USB sticks is failing to boot.??

Is it your Live USB stick that is failing to boot in a USB3 socket..??

Hi Wirezfree

U wrote:

or is it,
You have installed LL to the Sandisk USB3, and it is this that is failing to boot when in a USB3 socket.??"

sorry for my poor English but i'm not sure i understand the difference between the 2 options above...anyway the pendrive inserted
in the USb 3 socket fail to boot and the error is this: initramfs unable to find a medium containing a live file system.

In the USB 2 works ok...

THX for your Answer

David

Can you clarify.?

You have a "Live" USB stick,
Is it this that is failing to boot in a USB3 socket, but boots O.K in USB2 socket, Is this the issue.??
or is it,
You have installed LL to the Sandisk USB3, and it is this that is failing to boot when in a USB3 socket.??

Hello Guys..

i'm stuck! i'm not able to install linux lite on a 32gb usb 3 sandisk pen drive. When i boot i end up to this error:

This happen if i insert the drive in the USB 3 port...On the USB 2 port it work normally!!!

Anyone who already stumble upon this problem?
