This that make you go huuumm...

Hope it's an easy fix for you.
Just out of curiosity, have you tried Ubuntu 18.04 or Linux Mint 19 on this conputer? (all same base).
Or it could be a kernel thingy... or something related to a sheep and an iridium cube. You just don't know sometimes (insert Twilight Zone music).

Cheerios!

Hey, Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, I tied all the available USB  ports. As long as I leave the auto-mount settings disabled, USB devices seem to operate correctly.

Hi,

I deal with a lot of DELL computers. They sometime use a USB controller, specially 3.0 that give trouble of detecting certain devices.
For example I have a USB key which works fine in everything, but not Vostro 430 computers front ports for some reason.
Have you tried the different ports?
Maybe getting the PCI device vendor ID for your USB controllers, I'll do the same when getting my hands on another Vostro 430.
Could be something with a USB driver Vs Kernel...

Cheers!

Hello

I just did a virgin install of Linux Lite 4.0 on my Dell Latitude e6500 with a new SSD drive (and upgrade)
I notice that USB drives don't mount most of the time. They can't be seen in either the file manager or on the desk top.
This system seems to works fine otherwise. When I DESELECTED all the auto-mount, auto-open options in the removable devices settings, it appears to have corrected the issue (at least as far as I've tested so far)
It seems that the settings for this seem to work in reverse. Is this a known bug?
I didn't have this issue with  the LL3x series.

Mark
