Full Version: LL 6.2 install on Lenovo laptop, some keyboard keys not working

Hiya!

I've installed LL 6.2 on a Lenovo laptop, it seems to be ok except the following:

hitting <shift> 2 gives the @ symbol instead of "
hitting <shift> ' gives " instead of @
the number keys on the main keyboard all work except 7, which does nothing
Numlock seems to be ok - the keypad area toggles between numbers and the movement keys when I hit Numlock

I've tried the virtual / onscreen keyboard, all keys work ok on that.
Can anyone tell me which of the keyboard options I should set?

Cheers and TIA!

The trackpad is misbehaving too, that's next on my list
Have you looked at the Keyboard Section in the Help Manual yet?

Hi Jerry!

Yes - I put 'keyboard' into the search box on the Help Manual contents page and got four results, but none answered this q. Didn't see a Keyboard Section. I followed the link under the Keyboard Related heading in the Hardware section to the XFCE wiki as well.

I counted the keys on my keyboard, there are 103 and the enter key is an upside down L, but I remember reading somewhere that the power button counts as a key, so I tried the 'Generic 104 key PC with L shaped enter key' layout option. When I did that the 7 key started working, but the @ and " are still swapped. One step forward at least!

Ahaa cracked it - I'd searched in the forums before, but had a more thorough read just now and came across the a comment that even though I'd put English UK to the top of the layout options list I needed remove English US from the list. Swapped keys now fixed, yay!
