Hi !

First, to be clear, some examples of what a pocket pc is :*

I'm considering buying one of those and installing LL on it. Hoping to have something lightweight, cheaper than a tablet, easier to use (I do hate touch screens), good enough to watch videos and surf the net while traveling.

What's your opinion about it ? Doable or not ?

Fire away.
Ok folks, after the tremendous interest you've shown for my post  :62: I'm going at it again.

Today, I just got a parcel : a nice HP Compaq Mini 102 laptop, direct from Fleabay. Checked it twice, perfect working conditions as far as I can guess. It's more or less 10 years old, has only 2Go RAM and 160 HD, but I guess, it'll prove enough for my needs.

As far as money is concerned, I payed the extravagant sum of 38 bucks for it.

I'll install LL on it in few days, and let you know all of this daring enterprise !

See you soon, for our next episode !  :57:
Ok,it's done : I've installed LL on this mini laptop and now I have something perfectly usuable and functional (which it wasn't while running onW7), a perfect and cheap alternative to a tablet.

That was my primary goal, I don't like touch screens, I prefer a true keyboard, and iOS and Android are far less enjoyable than they're advertised for.

Rooting a tablet is too bothersome and complicated, that's why I've decided for a mini laptop.

Moreover, this laptop is provided with a 2.5" HDD, which I'll change for an SSD later on. To conclude this story, for me the scap heap proved to be a pile of gold.

Have a nice day.

Glad to hear!!! Sounds like you have a nice set up  ;D

Was it straight forward or any "gotchyas" or stumbling blocks? If so perhaps posting for any future folks looking to do the same...
No glitch, very straight forward. Just had not much free time and I'm quite green on Linux Lite, so I had to take my time, but overall, it was easy.
