Try pressing the print screen key without the ctrl or alt key.  It should open a utility called Screenshot which leads through a screen or window capture to a file. Or try opening Screenshot from the menu - probably under accessories.
Many thanks Stevef; this is the third time you've helped me out. Your solution works a treat. I'm not sure what the forum etiquette says about putting "Solved" on a post someone else has started. I can't put "solved" on my original post on this topic because the post won't appear when I click the title.  Ean.
