Hello Everyone,

I am hoping to eventually install Zello on my computer. In order for this program to work, it requires Wine. I tried following the instructions for installing Wine by:
  • dpkg --print-architecture
  • sudo add-apt-repository 'deb https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/ubuntu/focal main'
  • Received error message: " E: Malformed entry 55 in list file /etc/apt/sources.list (Component)
    E: The list of sources could not be read."
  • Opened Menu->System->Package Manager
  • Enter Password and Press Authenticate
  • Received error message: "E: Malformed entry 55 in list file /etc/apt/sources.list (Component)
    E: The list of sources could not be read.
    E: _cache->open() failed, please report."
  • Pressed "Close" button
  • Reported all of this to you
Given all this, how may I finally install Wine? What woudl you recommend I do about the error messages. I have already tried using cat /etc/apt/sources.list. It produces:

Unfortunately, I am novice enough to be clueless about what this tells me. Perhaps it offers you some clue. Thank you for reading this post. I very much look forward to having Wine (whatever version you recommend) and Zello up and working on this computer. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
You should be using Lite Software to install Wine, it will do everything you need to. Undo what you have done first.
I am even a big enough novice, to not know how to undo what I have done. How may I accomplish undo?
Edit your /etc/apt/sources.list as Administrator (right click on file) Replace contents of file with this:

Code:

# deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal-security main restricted

Thank you. This fixed the problem of the Package Manager spouting error messages.

What would you recommend to get Wine and Zello working on this computer?
Have already given you instructions for Wine. What is Zello, never heard of it. Please provide resources.

Zello is software I had on Windows 7. It is like a hybrid between walkie talkies and voice mail. I can record my voice and send it to specified users. Then they can respond to my messages by recording their own voice and sending it to me.
From web site.Zello - The Leading Push-to-Talk AppZello is the highest rated push-to-talk app, connecting 150 Million users globally,
empowering frontline workers, teams, and communities through instant and crystal-clear voice messaging.https://zello.com
There is a free app version but no where is mention about requirements. Sad
Yay a resource Smile I'd need a link to the windows version to test.

Herez it iz:https://zello.com/data/ZelloSetup.exe
I'm begining to think I should use the app myself  :008:
