my desktop shows a "floppy" icon but i dont have a floppy in the computer. i dont have a "delete' option soo.. how to get rid of it? thanks...
Right click on the Desktop, Desktop Settings. Icons tab, have a look there.
unsure what i am looking for other than there is NO floppy listed in the drop menu if that what u mean. the tick is in for "removeable devices" which doesnt have an effect since there is no floppy in the machine.. and whilst on the subject of desktop, it seems i have to re-set my background preferences at each boot. and i still have the darned ubuntu 14.04 boot splash screen.. but its a nice OS to b sure.. thanks.. t
And there is no floppy drive connected tot he motherboard? This is not a virtual machine either?
nope. i loaded linux lite 2.0 and dont have a floppy in it any more. used to with the original XP. removed it and the cabling. as an aside i still get the ubuntu 14.04 boot and shutdown splash screens.. thanx t

At any stage of using Linux Lite, did it have a floppy attached that you later removed?
Make sure it is disabled in your BIOS.
