Thanks robinc,

I'll give that a crack.

Don't you love Linux Lite?  ;D  It even has an option for this.
Hmmm...

Not sure what's up, or which setting to change.

Followed the instructions here:

https://docs.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-power-manager/faq

and found this line among many:

TRACE[xfpm-polkit.c:366] xfpm_polkit_check_auth_intern(): Action=org.freedesktop.login1.suspend is authorized=TRUE

which has a different number (366 vs 406), but seems to show it's authorised internally. So I guess it should work.

That's all I know!

Any further pointers?
On the Power Manager Security tab - Lock Screen when system is going to sleep - uncheck.

Just possible that it is confusing sleep and suspend???
Hi robinc,

I can now confirm that it didn't work. It definitely doesn't go into sleep/suspend, but puts up the Authentication required popup, which is waiting for me when I log back in.

Will have to try a full reinstall and see what that does.

Cheers
