Again, I think this is a thing of the past and in this era, in this year, 2019, 21st century, this isn't true anymore. Most modern distros are designed to be user friendlier; the likes of Linux Lite, Linux Mint, MX-Linux and others are doing a great effort in breaking that myth of "Linux being a diffcult OS for normal people to use". Sure, manufacturers and retailers still focus of the "main stream" OSes but, if given the choice people would certainly choose Linux over any other of those ones once they acknowledge the benefits of using a Linux OS. Other OSes keep their market share mostly because that's what people are being offered, there's a lot of business involved in that; anti-virus companies, videogames companies, hardware companies ... there's no money in letting people to use a free operating system that doesn't get in their way while at the same time teaches them how their computers really work.
[member=7109]Moltke[/member], quite right, but mind the GNU/Linux ecosystem in general, as approached from the outsider standpoint, is user unfriendly. I would say that Linux tactically shoots itself in the foot, but there is wisdom to it. Besides - it is also not my observation, I borrow it from someone else - the times of hardware competition come to an end. In this upcoming age, the market players will try to dominate with exclusive contents to grab and hold a consumer.
Thats sounds like the whispered alliance of the PS5 and XboxTWO (or XBoxBacon, or other ridiculous name it will be called) Versus Stadia. Sony/MS will have almost the exact harfware so exclusives festival?
Anyhoo, Getting back on subject.... I would like to be concise on why Whiskers is IMHO a crucial piece of software. For a newbie like me, if it wasn't there to "train" me, I would have probably got back to the "W" thing. Not having to "guess" what apps do has made the learning curve so much pleasant. It's also light!

Hats off to that team too.

Agree. Whisker's great, the one missing feature is file search support, if they added that it'd be perfect.
